Responsibilities of the Faculty Council
- The responsibilities of the Faculty Council include in particular:
- passing opinions on the candidate for the position of Dean proposed by the Rector;
- passing opinions on candidates for the positions of Vice-Dean, Head of a Faculty Institute, Head of a Department and Laboratory proposed by the Dean;
- passing opinions on the Faculty's strategy and on the annual reports regarding its implementation;
- passing opinions on the curricula of all programmes of education offered by the Faculty;
- passing opinions on the rules of awarding degrees.
- The Faculty Council consists of:
- the Dean;
- Vice-deans;
- representatives of professors and doctors with habilitation (from 5 to 10 persons);
- representatives of other academic staff (hereinafter AS) (5 to 10 persons);
- non-AS staff representatives (3 to 5 persons);
- student representatives (at least 20% of the Faculty Council).
- The mode of operation for the Faculty Council is determined by the Dean.
- The number of elected representatives on the Faculty Council is determined by the person designated to hold the office of Dean.
- The term of office of the Faculty Council is four years and coincides with that of the Rector.
- The rules for electing members of the Faculty Council are set out in the Election Rules of Gdańsk University of Technology, which constitutes Annex 5 to the Statute.
- The meetings of the Faculty Council shall also be attended by representatives of each trade union active at the Faculty, who will have the right to speak on staff matters.
