Information about the lecturer
Rui Pedrosa serves as the Coordinator Professor at the Polytechnic University of Leiria and the Principal Investigator at MARE-Polytechnic of Leiria, roles he has held since 2008 and 2014, respectively. He was the President of the University from 2018 to 2022 and concurrently served as the Vice-President of NERLEI. Between 2020 and 2022, he founded and presided over RUN-EU, and from 2014 to 2018, he was the Vice-President for Research and Innovation at the University. His research in Marine Biotechnology, Pharmacology, and Cellular Biology, has led to international patents and over 100 peer-reviewed publications, in addition to authoring four books and ten book chapters. He actively supervises Master's and PhD students and leads various national and international projects.
The host of the meeting is Professor Magdalena Gabig-Cimińska from the Faculty of Biology, UG. The initiative was created as part of cooperation between the University of Gdańsk and Politecnico de Leiria.
