dr Anatol Arendt | Faculty of Chemistry at the Gdańsk University of Technology

On December 31, 2022, at the age of  82, died Anatol Arendt, PhD.

Anatol Arendt was born on January 26, 1940 in Lwaniec, he was employed at the Gdansk University of Technology as an assistant professor in the years 1964-1980. He graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Gdansk University of Technology in 1964, and in 1973 he obtained his doctor degree: doctoral thesis "Synthesis of a muropeptide containing L,L-a,e-diaminopimelic acid". In 1979, he obtained degree of habilitated doctor for "Application of the radiochromatographic method to study the kinetics of reaction mechanisms in the synthesis of peptides". In 1980 he came to the USA, where he continued his scientific career, initially at the Department of Medical Biochemistry, South Illinois University, Carbondale, and then as an associate professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Florida, Gainesville. Author of over 50 articles and papers in scientific journals and 3 patents. Member of the Polish Chemical Society in 1969-80, the American Chemical Society and the American Peptide Society.
