A visit as part of the Erasmus+ program | Faculty of Chemistry at the Gdańsk University of Technology

We are pleased to announce that from September 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025, our department will host Ioanna Boutrou, a graduate of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Thessaly, in Greece, who has come to us as part of the Erasmus+ program.

During her internship, Ioanna will focus on studying the antibacterial and antifungal potential of bee products and analyzing the molecular mechanisms of their antimicrobial activity, which she will conduct under the supervision of Dr. Piotr Szweda, PhD, Eng.

Ioanna completed her bachelor's degree at the University of Thessaly (UoT) in 2024. Her thesis supervisor was Professor Dimitris Mossialos, with whom Dr. Piotr Szweda's team has consistently collaborated. This partnership has resulted in internships for our students at UoT and joint publications. Furthermore, in 2023, Professor Mossialos also visited our department, during which the results of previous research and ongoing projects were discussed.
