Participation of Our Students in the FOODBALT 2026 Conference
Three of our students — Kamilla Ujvári, Julia Czaplis and Jakub Dziadosz — took part in the 19th Baltic Conference on Food Science and Technology FOODBALT 2026 – “Resilient Food Systems: From Primary Production to Consumption”, held on 14–15 May 2026 in Jelgava, Latvia. The event brought together young researchers and experts from across Europe, focusing on innovations in food science, sustainable food chains, and emerging research directions in food technology.
Our students presented the results of their research in the form of scientific posters:
- Antimicrobial and antioxidant potential of honeys produced in Polish apiaries — Kamilla Ujvári; scientific supervisor: Piotr Szweda, DSc; OPUS project funded by the NCN grant
- Prebiotic Functionality of Bee Bread: Modulation of Lactoplantibacillus plantarum — Jakub Dziadosz; scientific supervisor: Karolina Matejczuk, PhD; project carried out within the RADIUM Learning Through Research Programs
- Bacillus velezensis PY2.3 isolated from bee pollen as a Biocontrol Agent Against American Foulbrood — Julia Czaplis; scientific supervisor: Karolina Matejczuk, PhD; project carried out within the RADIUM Learning Through Research Programs
The participation of our students in FOODBALT 2026 represents an important step in their scientific development and highlights the growing role of research conducted at the Department of Drug Technology and Biochemistry, particularly in the areas of bioactive bee products, applied microbiology, and biotechnology with therapeutic and biocontrol potential.
