Professor Żaneta Polkowska is a member of the Polar Research Committee | Faculty of Chemistry at the Gdańsk University of Technology

Professor Żaneta Polkowska, PhD, DSc, Eng., on the 21st February 2023 has become a member of the Polar Research Committee of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term 2023-2026 (by the ruling of the Presidium of PAS no. 9/2023 from 21/02/2023 invoking the members of the problem committees and councils of the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term of office 2023-2026).

The Committee for Polar Research of the Presidium of PAS has an advisory role for the Presidium of PAS.

The tasks of the Committee for Polar Research of PAS include, among others:

• issuing expert opinions for the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Government of the Republic of Poland and its Ministries, and for the agencies funding scientific research, including economical units and social organisations;
• collaborations and participation in the realisation of tasks within the scope of the Advisory Team for the Polish Polar Policy, invoked by the President of the Council of Ministers;
• collaboration with the international organisations: EPB (European Polar Board), IASC (InternationalArctic Science Committee), SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research), COMNAP (Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs), FARO (Forum of Arctic Research Operators), IPA (International  Permafrost Association), SAON (Sustaining Arctic Observing Networks) and SSF (Svalbard Science Forum);
• supporting the activities of the Polish research community.
