PhD student scholarship in the SONATA-BIS project (DoECaS)

Requirements:

  • Master degree in chemistry, physics or materials science (Candidates receiving a diploma shortly after the closing date will also be considered).
  • Experience in laboratory works in the field of hydrothermal processes, purification methods and inorganic synthesis
  • Knowledge in inorganic and organic chemistry, basic knowledge in electrochemistry
  • Independence in conducting laboratory work
  • English - advanced level
  • Commitment to research and scientific work, ability to work independently and in a team, diligence

Project description and key responsibilities:

Tasks for the PhD student in the project "Development of processes for critical raw materials recovery from spent lithium-ion cells" (grant No: UMO-2022/46/E/ST8/00395) will be as follows:

1) Research work related to the development and optimization of recovery of electrode active materials from spent lithium-ion cells

2) Research work related to the physicochemical and electrochemical characterization of the recovered electrode materials

3) Interpretation and discussion of the research results obtained in the project.

4) Preparation of manuscripts based on results obtained within the project for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals from JCR list

5) Presentation of research results at scientific conferences.

The conditions of employment:

- a scholarship of PLN 4,000 per month for 6 months with possibility of extention;

- expected start date: July 2023;

The scholarship commission based on the "REGULATIONS FOR THE AWARD OF NCN SCIENTIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS IN RESEARCH PROJECTS FINANCED FROM THE FUNDS OF THE NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTER" will evaluate the submitted documents and select a laureate.

The results of the competition will be published on the website of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Gdańsk University of Technology (https://chem.pg.edu.pl/en) in the "PhD students" tab. The scholarship committee reserves the right to invite selected candidates for an interview or to call chosen candidates to provide additional documents.
