On 11-17.10.2021 Julia Godlewska, a student of the Faculty of Chemistry, together with the SimLE interdepartmental scientific association, took part in the 2nd edition of the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoc) - a university rocket competition, promoted by the Portuguese Space Agency. The event was attended by about 400 students from all over Europe gathered in 20 teams, including three groups from Poland. Students from Gdańsk University of Technology designed and built the R5 rocket.

On a daily basis, Julia Godlewska is a Chemistry 5th semester student of the Faculty of Chemistry and, apart from active participation in the above mentioned SimLE club, she also pursues her more chemical oriented scientific interests. Within the NCN project, directed by Piotr Bruździak, Ph.D., from the Department of Physical Chemistry, she is trying to characterize intermolecular interactions in peptide solutions. So far, the results of her work have been presented at three national and international scientific conferences.

The EuRoC competition itself aims to encourage students to design, build and launch their own vehicles, and more broadly to develop technological skills. Therefore, after initial successes, the SimLE has further plans to compete at the international Spaceport America Cup competition in June 2022. We wish a continued success to our student and only successful starts.
