95th Birthday of Zbigniew Klenowicz, PhD, Eng.

Zbigniew Klenowicz, PhD, Eng., a retired staff member of the present Department of Corrosion and Electrochemistry, celebrated his 95th birthday on 24 June of this year. Warm wishes for health and well-being were extended to the Jubilarian by the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk; the Pomeranian Voivode, Beata Rutkiewicz; and the Director of the Warsaw Uprising Museum, Jan Ołdakowski.
On behalf of the academic community of the Faculty of Chemistry at Gdańsk University of Technology, the Dean, Jacek Gębicki, PhD, DSc, Eng., conveyed birthday wishes to Doctor Klenowicz, highlighting his exceptional contributions to the education of multiple generations of engineers.
As a 14-year-old, Zbigniew Klenowicz participated in the Warsaw Uprising. For his "selfless service," he was awarded the Cross of Valour by order dated 30 September 1944. After the war, he connected his professional future with Gdańsk University of Technology. From 1948 to 1955, he studied at the University and later became a member of its academic staff.
During his professional career, he held academic positions at universities in Nigeria and Libya, and also served as Deputy Director of Petrochemical Plants in Mexico. In addition to his teaching activities, he provided his expertise and experience to the domestic industry.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, awarded Doctor Klenowicz the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
Zbigniew Klenowicz, PhD, remains professionally active to this day, working as a consultant in the field of corrosion protection.
