Professor Żaneta Polkowska, DSc, Eng. has become in 2021 a member of the International ImPACT Group (Input pathways of persistent organic pollutants to Antarctica), which focuses on the impact of chemical pollution upon the Antarctic and is led by the SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research).
The activity of the group aims at coordinating the monitoring of four known emission and distribution pathways of chemicals in the Antarctic: (1) atmospheric transport, (2) waterborne transport, (3) in situ emissions, (4) the transfer performed by biota. The group is also preparing joint publications resulting from the coordinated monitoring activities.
