Structural Research Laboratories at the Faculty of Chemistry
Structural Research Laboratories (SRL) is a new unit established within the organizational structure of the Faculty of Chemistry at the end of 2021 (ZR 79/2021 of 21/12/2021). Structural Research Laboratories operate on the basis of the equipment already working in the departments and laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry. The instruments provide essential knowledge about the structures of chemical compounds in solutions and solids. Those are:
- NMR spectrometers
- Mass spectrometers
- Monocrystalline X-ray diffractometer
Moreover the SRL unit consists of the microscope laboratory equipped with fluorescent microscopes and the molecular modeling laboratory.
SRL have been established to produce and provide interested researchers and other users with structural information either in the form of source data or their interpretation.
For the next three years – from 01/10/2021 – the activities of Structural Research Laboratories will be subsidized from two sources:
- resources of the units that made their equipment available to SRL: Department of Analytical Chemistry, Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biochemistry, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory,
- a project awarded to the Faculty of Chemistry as part of the Silicium Supporting Core R&D Facilities competition (ZR 18/2021) by the decision of the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology DEC-2/2021 / IDUB / V.6 / Si in July 2021; the project budget is PLN 1,595,220.
The project was prepared by prof. M. Bagiński, prof. Anna Dołęga, prof. P. Konieczka, prof. A. Kot-Wasik, Dr. P. Sowiński, and employees of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. It was submitted for the call by the Dean, prof. Agata Kot-Wasik, and the project manager is prof. Anna Dołęga.
Currently, information is being prepared on the equipment and principles of cooperation with the Structural Research Laboratories.
