The Chemical Auditorium named after Professor Jacek Namieśnik

The ceremony of naming the Chemical Auditorium after Professor Jacek Namieśnik took place on 12 April 2024.

During the ceremony, the Rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, prof. Krzysztof Wilde, PhD Eng., corresponding member of the PAS gave his speech, and the laudation was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, prof. Agata Kot-Wasik, PhD, Eng. After the ceremonial uncovering of the commemorative plaque, the guests could enjoy the performance of the Academic Choir of Gdańsk University of Technology under the direction of prof. Mariusz Mróz, PhD, DSc.

The next point of the program was a scientific seminar entitled "Analyst – quo vadis?" during which the following scientists gave their speeches:

  • prof. Piotr Stepnowski, PhD, DSc, corresponding member of the PAS, Rector of the University of Gdańsk - "Pharma(e)cological analysis";
  • prof. Michał Markuszewski, PhD, DSc, Vice-Rector for Science, Medical University of Gdańsk - "Metabolomics in bioanalytics: current state and future trends";
  • prof. Piotr Konieczka, PhD, DSc, Eng., Head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Gdańsk University of Technology - "Less and less, or where is the limit of trace analysis?".

At the end, the guests took the floor, and the Dean read some of the letters sent by those who could not participate in the event in person.
