On 12 September, workshops and lectures were held at the Faculty of Chemistry of Gdańsk University of Technology as part of the meeting: HUMAN MILK LIPIDOMIC ANALYSIS WORKSHOP. This is the fourth event at the Faculty of Chemistry co-financed by COST (European Cooperation in the Field of Scientific and Technical Research), as part of the CA 19105 “EpiLipidNet” action, and the first to deal with the topic of human milk lipidomics.

The event was organized by Dorota Martysiak-Żurowska, PhD, DSc, Eng., and Prof. Agnieszka Bartoszek, PhD, DSc, Eng. from the Department of Chemistry, Food Technology and Biotechnology. The meeting was attended by about 40 people; who were not only employees and PhD students of the Faculty of Chemistry, but also people representing the Medical University of Gdańsk and research universities from Kraków, Bydgoszcz and Warsaw.

Participants of the meeting could familiarize themselves with analytical techniques for lipid isolation and the methodology for lipidomic analysis of human milk, as well as listen to six very interesting lectures on various aspects of research on this important food. The latest achievements of their research work were presented by employees of the Faculty of Chemistry, Adam Macierzanka, PhD, DSc, Eng., Prof. Agata Kot-Wasik, PhD, DSc, Eng., Weronika Hewelt-Belka, PhD, DSc, Eng., and Prof. Agnieszka Bartoszek, PhD, DSc, Eng. The invitation to the event was also accepted by midwife Izabela Drążkowska, coordinator of the Bank of Female Milk in Gdańsk at the Medical University of Gdańsk, and Julia Kuligowski, PhD, from the Health Research Institute La Fe in Valencia, who came especially for this event from Spain.
