Inauguration of the academic year 2024/2025 at the Faculty of Chemistry | Faculty of Chemistry at the Gdańsk University of Technology

On Monday, 30 September, a faculty ceremony took place: Inauguration of the academic year 2024/2025.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Jacek Gębicki, PhD, DSc, Eng. welcomed the guests and presented the main goals of the new term of office of the faculty authorities (2024-2028). Then the Dean presented the acts of nomination to the new vice-deans:

• Vice-Dean for Science, Justyna Płotka-Wasylka, PhD, DSc, Eng.
• Vice-Dean for Education, Robert Tylingo, PhD, DSc, Eng.
• Vice-Dean for Student Affairs, Sebastian Demkowicz, PhD, DSc, Eng.
• Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Development, Prof. Juliusz Orlikowski, PhD, DSc, Eng.

The newly appointed vice-deans presented the main priorities for their activities.

Next, the Dean of the Faculty thanked Professor Sławomir Milewski – long-time head of the Department of Drug Technology and Biochemistry for his long-term management of the Department. The new position of the head will be held by Iwona Gabriel, PhD, DSc, Eng., while Donata Konopacka-Łyskawa, PhD, DSc, Eng. will become the head of the Department of Process Engineering and Chemical Technology

Then, the Dean presented the medal of Prof. Włodzimierz Rodziewicz, to Prof. Piotr Konieczka for outstanding teaching activity. In the next part of the ceremony, awards were presented for the best master's thesis completed in 2022/2023 and the Rector's awards of the 2nd and 3rd degree for scientific, teaching and implementation achievements. The 1st degree awards will traditionally be presented during the ceremonial session of the Senate in December.

The next item on the agenda was the inaugural lecture: "The role of ITPOK in the closed-loop economy", which was delivered by Sławomir Kiszkurno, the President of the Management Board of Port Czystej Energii Sp. z o.o. (Clean Energy Port, Ltd.).

The ceremony ended with a meeting in the lobby – with refreshments, of course!
