The PhD student will participate in the implementation of tasks within the international M-ERA.NET 3 Call 2025 project entitled “CARBONEX-S: Sustainable Nanocellulose-Carbon Hybrid Electrodes for Advanced Flexible Supercapacitors” [2025/07/Y/ST11/00190], under the supervision of Dr Eng. Anna Dettlaff.

CARBONEX-S aims to develop a new generation of sustainable, flexible supercapacitors by integrating environmentally responsible materials at every stage of the design.

Requirements:

  • MSc degree in Physical Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Materials Science, or a closely related field, with a solid background in electrochemistry.
  • Fulfilment of the requirements specified in the relevant provisions of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 157, as amended), necessary to receive a doctoral scholarship throughout the entire period of implementation of the planned tasks in the project.
    • Doctoral student status at a Doctoral School
  • The candidate must demonstrate experience in applying advanced electrochemical techniques.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Strong motivation for scientific work, commitment to carrying out the planned research, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Additional assets:

  • Experience in conducting experimental work in a chemical laboratory.
  • Documented scientific track record confirmed by publications in JCR-listed journals.
  • Personal attributes: ability to solve problems independently and work effectively in an international team.

Tasks/Role:

  • Electrochemical testing of electrode materials (2- and 3-electrode systems)
  • Testing of electrochemical capacitors
  • Processing and analysis of results.
  • Publishing research results in JCR-listed scientific journals.

Doctoral scholarship for a period of 22 months.
The monthly scholarship amount is PLN 3,500 gross.

The results of the competition will be published on the website of the Faculty of Chemistry of Gdańsk University of Technology (https://chem.pg.edu.pl/). The recruitment process may be closed without selecting a candidate. Only selected candidates will be contacted. The final selection of candidates for the project will be carried out through an open competition, based on the evaluation of scientific achievements, research skills, and an interview with the best candidates.

Recruitment to the project will be conducted in accordance with the “Recruitment to the project will be carried out in accordance with the “Regulations on awarding NCN research scholarships in research projects funded by the National Science Centre”.

Information on the processing of personal data:

  3. Your data will be processed within the scope provided for in the Labour Code, i.e. first name, surname, date of birth, place of residence/address for correspondence, education, and employment history, pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR*, for the purpose of conducting the recruitment process. Other data, if provided, will be processed on the basis of your consent, pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR*.
  4. Personal data will be stored until the recruitment process is completed, and in the case of employment, until the employment relationship ends, after which the data will be archived and stored for a period of 10 years.
  5. The data provided will not be disclosed to third parties. The recipients of the data will only be institutions authorised by law.
  6. You have the right to access your data and to rectify/correct, erase or restrict the processing of your data, as well as the right to withdraw your consent, if granted, at any time, and the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, i.e. the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
  7. The data provided by you will not be subject to profiling.
  8. Providing personal data within the scope resulting from Article 22¹ of the Labour Code is necessary in order to participate in the recruitment procedure. Providing any other data is voluntary.
