Laboratory of Bacterial Genetics is looking for an enthusiastic PhD student to conduct research in our NCN OPUS 25 project (principal investigator: prof. dr Satish Raina) entitled “Investigating the coordinated regulation of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and phospholipid amounts by the essential LPS assembly proteins LapB/LapC and the involvement of a new thioesterase” to investigate mechanisms balanced biosynthesis of LPS and phospholipids.

Requirements:

- master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology,

- knowledge about techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry and microbiology,

- experience in plasmid and chromosomal DNA isolation, protein purification, immunoblotting,

- documented scientific achievements including publications,

- good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Description of tasks:

- purification of the TesD protein and analysis of its complex with the AcpP protein.

- identification of amino acid residues that define TesD catalytic active site.

- measurement of thioesterase activity of wild-type and its mutants.

- measurement of fatty acid composition after overexpression of the wild-type tesD gene and its mutant by gas chromatography.

- participating in data analysis and interpretation of results.

Conditions of employment:

Scholarship agreement for a period up to 12 months (start date: 01.03.2025)

Scholarship amount - 3000 PLN/month (gross).

Informacje dotyczące przetwarzania danych osobowych:

1. Administratorem danych przetwarzanych w procesie rekrutacyjnym będzie Politechnika Gdańska z siedzibą przy ul. Narutowicza 11/12 w Gdańsku (kod pocztowy: 80-233).

3. 4. Dane osobowe będą przechowywane do zakończenia rekrutacji, a w przypadku przyjęcia do pracy do ustania stosunku pracy, a następnie zostaną poddane archiwizacji i będą przechowywane przez okres 10 lat.
5. Podane dane nie będą podlegały udostępnieniu podmiotom trzecim. Odbiorcami danych będą tylko instytucje upoważnione na mocy prawa.
6. Przysługuje Pani/Panu prawo dostępu do treści danych oraz ich sprostowania (poprawiania), usunięcia lub ograniczenia przetwarzania, jak również prawo do cofnięcia zgody (jeśli została wyrażona) w dowolnym momencie oraz prawo do wniesienia skargi do organu nadzorczego (tj. 7. Dane udostępnione przez Panią/Pana nie będą podlegały profilowaniu.
8. Podanie przez Panią/Pana danych osobowych w zakresie wynikającym z art. 221 Kodeksu pracy jest niezbędne, aby uczestniczyć w postępowaniu rekrutacyjnym. Podanie przez Panią/Pana innych danych jest dobrowolne.

The candidate must meet all requirements indicated for PhD position on awarding funding for research tasks funded by the National Science Centre as regards research projects. The successful candidate will be selected by a committee chaired by the project leader.
