The prestigious World’s Top 2% Scientists 2024 list, developed by Stanford University in cooperation with Elsevier, includes a total of 62 scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology. There are as many as 20 from the Faculty of Chemistry.

As part of the PRELUDIUM 22 competition, organized by the National Science Center, young scientists from our Faculty received grants to finance their projects:

On 21-24 of May this year, employees and PhD students of the Faculty of Chemistry from the Department of Polymer Technology were exhibitors at the 28th International Fair of Plastics and Rubber Processing PLASTPOL in Kielce.

This was part of the Tadeusz Pompowski’s Award, and the team consisted of: M. Sienkiewicz, PhD, Eng., P. Gnatowski, MSc, Eng., E. Piłat, MSc, Eng. and Justyna Kucińska-Lipka, PhD, DSc, Eng.

Professor Swietlana Białłozór was born on 28 June 1932 in Vilnius, which she had to leave after the war. She continued her education in Gorzów, where she graduated from high school in 1951. In the same year, she began her studies at the Faculty of Chemistry of Gdańsk University of Technology, graduating with a master's degree in engineering on 27 May 1956. After graduation, she was employed at the Department of Mineralogy and Petrography (1956-1958).

Annual scholarships for outstanding young scientists who are at the beginning of their scientific careers and have already documented outstanding achievements in their field of research were awarded as part of the 32nd edition of the competition. Among the 100 laureates there are two scientists from our Faculty: Jan Alfuth, PhD, Eng., and Szymon Dudziak, MSc, Eng.

On 15 May 2024, as part of the Sports Day celebration at Gdańsk University of Technology, sports competitions were held. Nine five-person teams representing individual faculties and central units took part in the interfaculty competition.
