It is with great joy and pride that we announce that Ewa Wagner-Wysiecka, PhD, DSc, Eng., from the Faculty of Chemistry was awarded the title of Professor in the field of Natural and Exact Sciences, in the discipline of Chemical Sciences, on 16 June 2025.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations on this exceptional achievement, which crowns many years of dedicated work in scientific research, teaching, and academic service.

Jakub Baczyński-Keller, a doctoral student at the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology of the Faculty of Chemistry, Gdańsk University of Technology, and a Fulbright Junior Research Award recipient, received an honorable mention for his individual scientific presentation at the prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference held in the United States.

We are pleased to announce that Paulina Parcheta-Szwindowska, PhD, Eng., representing the Faculty of Chemistry at Gdańsk University of Technology, is among 228 outstanding young researchers awarded a scholarship by the Minister of Science and Higher Education in the 2025 edition. This prestigious distinction is granted based on a substantive evaluation of scientific achievements, conducted by an expert panel appointed by the Ministry.

It is with pride and joy, that we announce that Prof. Kazimierz Darowicki, PhD, DSc, Eng., a distinguished scholar from the Faculty of Chemistry at Gdańsk University of Technology, has been elected a Corresponding Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS). This is one of the highest distinctions in the Polish academic community, awarded to researchers with exceptional achievements, authority, and influence on the development of science in Poland and globally.

On 17 June 2025, the Faculty of Chemistry at Gdańsk University of Technology held a formal celebration as part of the 80th anniversary of the Faculty’s founding. For over eight decades of educational and scientific activity, the Faculty of Chemistry has educated generations of engineers and scientists, developed modern technologies, conducted pioneering research, and established strong collaborations with industry. We take pride in our history, achievements, and the individuals who have shaped—and continue to shape—our identity.

The report session of doctoral students of the doctoral school (discipline of chemical sciences) summarizing the academic year 2024/2025 will be held on July 10-11, 2025. The ceremonial opening of the session combined with the awarding of prizes for the best doctoral dissertation AD 2024 will take place in Auditorium 1.4 (Chemistry C) at 9:00. The presence of all doctoral students and their supervisors is obligatory. From 8:30, rooms 215, 222 and Auditorium 1.4 will be made available, where it will be possible to upload presentations.

On June 12, 2025, the Faculty of Chemistry at Gdańsk University of Technology hosted a delegation from Shanghai Institute of Technology.

As of May 13, 2025, Hubert Cichocki, PhD, President of the Łukasiewicz Centre, appointed Prof. Janusz Datta, PhD, DSc, Eng. —Head of the Department of Polymer Technology at the Faculty of Chemistry, Gdańsk University of Technology—as a member of the Council of the Institute of Polymer Materials, part of the Łukasiewicz Research Network. This marks the third term of the Council, which operates on a four-year mandate.

In this year’s edition of the Santander Bank Polska program for the academic community of Gdańsk University of Technology, 30 financial awards were granted to students and doctoral students of the university. Among the laureates are representatives of the Faculty of Chemistry, whose achievements were particularly recognized by the competition committee.

In the first round of the 9th edition of the Miniatura competition organized by the National Science Centre, nearly PLN 100,000 was awarded to two researchers from Gdańsk University of Technology—representing the Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics. These funds are intended for the implementation of preliminary research activities.
